FAQ's

Is it Safe?

Safety is at the core of our company values which we take very seriously. Our batteries are installed in compliance with all AS/NZ standards for safe connection to the grid. Our batteries are monitored real time using the inbuilt battery management system that will isolate the battery in unlikely event that a fault is detected. We also exceed NZ battery safety standards with the implementation of an additional two modes of fault isolation.

What is SOH?

State of Health (SOH) is a measure of the overall health or capacity of the battery when compared with its brand new factory condition. An average EV battery is swapped when capacity falls below 70% SOH, with remaining capacity around 13 kWh, is sufficient enough to power up to 75% of an average kiwi home.

I have an old Nissan Leaf which is getting a new battery soon, can I use my old battery to power my home?

Yes! To incentivize repurposing Lithium batteries in our own backyards(literally), we will provide a discount on our B3 system if you choose to install the battery from your existing EV. Contact our team for further information.

Does it have to be a Nissan Leaf battery? Can I use another brand?

Due to the large number of Nissan Leaf cars on New Zealand road, our team has focused on perfecting the B3 design with the Leaf battery. However, our team of engineers are eager to create a B3 system for all EVs. Keep an eye out on our socials for releases of the latest new products.

What happens as battery degradation becomes less of an issue with new tech?

Great, the better the battery technology gets the better the second life storage batteries become. Bring on the innovation!

What happens to the battery after house use?

Once our batteries reach their end of life (around 25% SOH) they will be dismantled and readily recycled to reclaim materials such as aluminum and copper. The lithium cells can be further processed to reclaim metals such as cobalt, nickel, and lithium. This is a service we will provide to all our customers.

Cost of the product?

Pricing is an ongoing equation as we develop a package for our customers. We will be investigating a number of avenues  such as outright purchase, rent to own etc. If you can provide the leaf battery pack, get in touch as we are happy to help integrate this into your house at a discounted rate.

Do I need solar panels as well?

Not at all, our battery system can be installed in a Hybrid setup (Solar and battery system that can export excess power to the grid) and AC coupled battery setup (charge up on cheap off peak rates, operate during peak rates) or even an off grid setup (no grid connection, solar and batteries only).

I already have solar, can you integrate into my existing system?

In most cases it will be possible to integrate our battery into your existing system, possibly even directly into your existing solar hybrid inverter.

Can I have more than one battery installed?

At the moment we are just looking to install one battery per household, however, we will be exploring this functionality going forward to allow a number of batteries to be installed in parallel.
